Since January 1, 2000 all individuals engaged in water well drilling activities (any one who works on a well either drilling or servicing pumps) must be registered with the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). Our registration number is 10002. All trucks servicing wells must have a current registration sticker located in front of the driver side door. We must prenotify DEC of the intent to drill your well. DEC assigns a well number and we use it on the well completion report we give toy you upon and DEC when the well is paid for.
Anyone who works on your well must also pass a certification exam. According to ECL 15-1525 “On or after January 1, 2003, any individual who is responsible for the onsite supervision of water well drilling activities must have passed with at least a 70% score, a licensing exam by the National Ground Water Association.”
The onsite driller/pump installer must provide acceptable evidence of having passed the licensing exams in one of two different manners:
